Bulbs lose their punch or the heat field just shifts. When that happens, you can’t just “tweak” your way out of it. You need lamps that actually hit the mark. That’s where our quartz lamps come in.
The nitty-gritty of the heat
Here is the thing about these ovens: they are picky. If a lamp is off by even a few watts, you get a cold spot. Simple as that. We obsess over the filament centering. If that filament isn’t dead-center in the quartz, the heat hits your preform at a weird angle. That’s why your bottles stretch unevenly. We use high-purity quartz so the radiation actually gets into the PET, keeping things consistent from top to bottom.
Swapping them out
You don’t need to call in an electrician or rewire your entire oven. We use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors, so these are just drop-in replacements. Plus, we use a halogen cycle. It stops the quartz from getting that cloudy, dark look over time, which means the light keeps flowing. One quick heads-up, though. If you’re trying to crank up your throughput by using higher-wattage bulbs, keep an eye on your sockets. More power means more heat, and your wiring can get fatigued if you push it too hard.
How it feels on the floor
The best part? No more “cold shoulders” on your bottles. Your thermal profile stays steady. Whether it’s the first bottle of the morning or the ten-thousandth one before lunch, they all come out looking the same. It takes the guesswork out of your start-ups and kills the scrap rate. Just make sure your ventilation is clean. High-density heat is great, but if your airflow is clogged, the quartz will overheat and burn out way too fast.
