If you’re running high-speed Husky HyPET lines, you know the struggle. You’re trying to get the center of the preform wall hot enough to blow, but by the time you do, the surface is practically scorched. It’s a frustrating balancing act. That’s why we built our 400V IR radiators. We wanted to fix that penetration problem once and for all. The secret is in the power. Most standard lamps just can’t keep up when the cycle times get aggressive. We switched to a 400V setup to cram more wattage into every millimeter of the tube. Think of it as pushing more energy into the shortwave spectrum. Instead of just baking the “skin” of the plastic, the heat actually sinks deep into the PET. The result? A temperature profile that’s actually consistent. No more worrying about pearlescence or those annoying thin spots in the bottle base. No need to rebuild your oven We didn’t want this to be a headache to install. We used high-purity quartz and specific coatings to get the heat curve exactly where it needs to be, but we kept the connectors as drop-in replacements for Krones-style footprints. They just fit. You can slide them into your existing racks without having to rewire the whole shop. Since we’re using shortwave IR—which PET absorbs way better than medium-wave—you can actually crank up the machine speed or even shorten your oven length. It just works faster. A couple of things to watch out for Look, these things put out a massive amount of heat. Because they run at 400V, your oven housing is going to get hot. Check your cooling blowers. If your airflow is sluggish, you’re asking for trouble—you could overheat the preform neck or warp your reflectors. And one last tip:get those connections tight. At these power levels, a loose wire isn’t just a nuisance; it’ll arc and fry your socket. Double-check your contact points, verify the voltage, and you’ll see a huge difference in how your bottles come out.
