To fix that, we messed with the filament mass and the thickness of the quartz envelope. By keeping the thermal mass low, the lamp hits its peak temperature way faster. Fit and finish (because loose parts suck) We use high-purity quartz glass because the last thing you need is a bulb bowing under extreme heat. But the real secret is in the connectors. We precision-machined them to fit your sockets perfectly. Why? Because a loose connection leads to arcing, and arcing leads to burnt-out terminals. It’s a headache you don’t need. These are the exact dimensions for the Contiform S footprint, so you can just swap them out without having to tweak your oven racks. A quick word of caution Here’s the thing: high-wattage, short-wave IR lamps put out a massive amount of heat. That’s what makes them fast, but it also puts a lot of pressure on your cooling blowers. If your ventilation is clogged or just can’t keep up, that ambient heat will eat your lamps alive. One pro tip: check your reflectors every 500 hours. If they’re dirty, the lamp has to work twice as hard—running hotter—just to get the preform to the right temperature. That’s a fast track to a burnt-out filament. Keep them clean, and your bulbs will last a lot longer.
